Today, I thought that I would share a couple of photographs of Palmer Lake, Co. It is a quaint, quiet and kind of artsy little town located to the north of Colorado Springs on the northern edge of El Paso County. Palmer Lake is located minutes away from Interstate 25. So it is an easy commute to both Colorado Springs and Denver.

If you prefer to shop at the big chain stores, the closet ones are in Monument, which is about 5 – 10 minutes to the south of Palmer Lake. There is usually a decent selection of homes for sale in the area. Some are equestrian properties, but most are residential lots. Prices for homes on acreage in this area are very comparable, or slightly higher, than homes in the Black Forest area.

The homes in Palmer Lake allow you to truly feel like you are living the Colorado experience.

In the Palmer Lake area, you can enjoy looking at the mountains and the rock see rock formations. There are trees and lots of pretty views across open pastures.

Deer feel at  home walking down the street and going from yard to yard.  While living in Palmer Lake, I saw my first fox.  I also saw my first set of chipmunks playing on our porch.

The area has trails that are popular with cyclists, long distance runners, and horse back riders. Motorcycle riders also enjoy the scenic drive down Highway 105 though Palmer Lake and County Line Road.

There are a few award-winning restaurants in Palmer Lake that are very worthy of the drive even if you don’t live in Palmer Lake. Those will be featured in future posts. Well, I will go ahead and admit that O’Malley’s Steak Pub is my favorite.

The Tri Lakes Center for the Arts is my favorite destination in Palmer Lake. They have concerts, classes and art exhibits at the Tri Lakes Center. My favorite, the Annual Visions of Light juried photography exhibition starts on February 23, 2019, and runs through April 26. The opening reception, which is open to all is on Friday, March 1 from 6-8 pm. The winners will be announced that night.

The show’s theme is “Vision of Light” The mission is for photographers to demonstrate their use to light to enhance the drama, impact and message of the photography. Of course, the photographs need to be technically correct also. The show always attracts some of the area’s best photographers. I suppose the beautiful scenery in and around the Colorado Springs area contributes to the fact that so many talented photographers and artists have chosen to live in the area.

The Tri Lakes Center for the Arts is located at 304 Highway 105, Palmer Lake CO 80133. The admission is free. Appetizers will be available. Drinks are available for additional cost.

If you do got to the show, be sure to look for me and say hi.
